2020 - 2023 Escape Door Check FailureNewsom Law PLC is investigating a potential lawsuit based on consumer complaints of the door checks failing on 2020 to 2023 Ford Escape vehicles.
Consumer complaints reveal that the door check spot welds are failing, leaving the door check broken inside the vehicle doors, making the doors difficult to open and close. In addition, there have been reports of the door check failures causing a loud cracking or popping sound when opening and closing the door as the door check becomes dislodged from the door. Some have reported that the spot welds on the door checks failing in Ford Escapes caused the power window to become inoperable or damaged. Consumer complaints also state that the door check failure can also cause failure to open, failure to close and inadvertent opening of the door while in motion. Some have reported injuries associated with door check failures. In addition the door pops open when a rough section of roadway is encountered such as a railroad crossing..."

This morning when the door was opened it sounded like something snapped, now the door will just swing wide open so I have to hold the door and barely open to squeeze in and out or it won't shut correctly. Called Ford Dealership and was advised to take to a body shop for repair, which would involve replacing the left front door check arm and door because the spot welds break on the driver door check arm attachment point, at a price point of over $2K...."
